Since the tragic death of Heath Ledger 20 months ago, several music videos directed by the Australian actor have been released posthumously, including Modest Mouse’s animated “King Rat” and Nick Drake’s eerie visual representation for “Black Eyed Dog” (in which director Heath turns the camera on himself, and is pictured drowning in the bathtub). Yesterday, a new music video for the Oscar nominee’s childhood friend, rapper N’Fa, surfaced. It is believed to be the final project over which Ledger had complete creative control.

Earlier in October, the Rome Film Festival celebrated Ledger’s videos in a special screening of the actor’s work. Yesterday, N’Fa, also known as No Fixed Abode, posted the video to his YouTube page, along with a Making Of’ video in which Ledger’s long-time friend recalls the bare bones shoot as if it was yesterday:

“We shot it in Sydney and Heath was living in Bronte at the time. He gave me a call as he often did, at crazy hours and he called and was like, ‘N’Fa, I’ve got this idea for a video. Let’s try to do something on the shoestring budget that we [have].’ He was very good at directing and giving you a definite point. So basically, the day before, we went and found a few different ideas and clothing and a massive sheet, a black curtain. We got in touch with two amazing make-up artists and on the day, we shot it so that we just had a couple of lights, three colors: red, black, white, and the backdrop and the single camera and we shot it all in the garage. The idea was to keep it very artistic.”

A gyógyszer-túladagolás miatt tavaly januárban váratlanul meghalt sztár sydney-i garázsában forgatta le barátja, a rapper N'Fa Cause An Effect címû számának videóklipjét. A No Fixed Abode címen is ismert szám az utolsó olyan rendezése, amely teljes egészében az irányítása alatt készült, közvetlenül a halála elõtt.

N'fa korábban Nfamas néven futott be az ausztrál 1200 Techniques hip-hop banda tagjaként. Londonban született, de Ledger szülõvárosában, Perth-ben nõtt fel, és még gyermekként barátkozott össze a késõbbi filmsztárral.

„Az volt az alapötlet, hogy legyen nagyon mûvészi, és ehhez tartottuk magunkat. Heath nagyon jól rendezett, és tudom, hogy elégedett volt az eredménnyel. Minden nap gondolok rá, hogy mekkora áldás, hogy ismerhettem, és hogy elkészítette velem ezt a filmet, ami egy kis mûvészet.” – mondta a zenész.

A 28 évesen elhunyt Ledger, aki A sötét lovag-beli utolsó alakításáért tavaly posztumusz Oscar-díjat kapott, több zenés videót is rendezett rövid pályafutása során.
